Colonials Win Streak Stopped in Loss At Campbell

Buies Creek, N.C. - Robert Morris University women's lacrosse saw its' two-game win streak halted in a 13-6 loss at Campbell University.

Dana Davis opened the game with her ninth goal of the season off a pass by Emily Jamison. The Colonials traded goals with the Camels through the first twelve minutes of play. Jessica Karwacki scored on a free position shot to give RMU a 2-1 lead. Campbell pulled ahead with a pair of goals but Corey Karwacki snapped home another free position goal to tie the game at three.

Campbell scored the next three goals before Katie Breeze scored a man-up tally to cut the deficit to two. The Camels ran their first half shots on goal total to 13, a seven shot margin over Robert Morris, taking a 7-4 lead on the scorebaord into the break.

Campbell's Annie Cook scored her second of the game to open the second half and double up on the Colonials 8-4, starting a three-goal run to give the Camels a 10-4 lead. Sophia Eureka scored off a pass by Davis to keep the Colonials within five. After a pair of Campbell goals, Brittany Byerly posted her 11th goal in the last three games to make it a 12-6 game. The Camels added one more tally for a final score of 13-6.

Campbell dominated shots on goal 22-8, limiting the Colonials to just two shots on goal in the second half, both of which resulted in goals. The Camels caused 11 turnovers, aiding in that defensive effort. Campbell led draw controls 13-9, but Robert Morris won the battle for ground balls 26-23 with Jessica Karwacki collecting five, Davis and Kendall Noel each with three. Sarah Arnold made 9 saves for the Colonials in net.

Robert Morris (2-4) will continue its' road stretch of games after a 13-day break from game action. The next games are March 25 and March 27 in Michigan as the Colonials visit University of Detroit and Central Michigan.
