Women's Lacrosse Travels for Two-Game Weekend in Michigan

Colonials visit University of Detroit Friday and Central Michigan University Sunday

Moon Township, Pa. – After nearly two weeks without a game, Robert Morris University women's lacrosse is back in action on the road in Michigan for a pair of games this weekend.

SCOUTING THE UNIVERSITY OF DETROIT
The Titans (3-4) are on a three-game win streak, coming off two dominating victories, earning a 22-1 win over Delaware State before picking up a 21-3 road win at Radford last Friday. The Titans' leading goal scorer is freshman Kaitlyn Wandelt with 16 goals and 21 points. Classmates Morgan Girardi and Lexie Kinmond are tied for second on the squad with 14 goals each.

LAST TIME OUT
Three Titans notched hat tricks: Kinmond & Wandelt each finished with five goals, while Kylie Birney had four goals. Wandelt totaled seven points and also collected a school-record 10 draw controls. Detroit fired 54 shots in the game, 39 of them on net. Both are new school records.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Colonials lead the all-time series with Detroit 3-0. The teams have played in each of the last three seasons with the last two games decided by two goals or less.


SCOUTING CENTRAL MICHIGAN 
The Chippewas wrap up non-conference play against RMU on Sunday. CMU (3-3) has wins over Gardner-Webb 16-4, Delaware State 19-5 and VCU 6-5. The Chips have already played mutual opponent Cincinnati, CMU falling 14-5 while RMU lost 8-7. CMU averages 8.5 goals per game and 19.5 shots per game.

LAST TIME OUT
Marquette handed CMU its third loss of the season, 17-4. Sydney Wright scored two goals on four shots to lead CMU.

ALL-TIME SERIES
This is the first-ever meeting between Robert Morris and Central Michigan.


COLONIALS QUICK HITS
LAST TIME OUT
The Colonials traveled to Campbell University and fell to the Camels 13-6.  Six different players scored in the loss: Dana Davis, Katie Breeze, Sophia Eureka, Corey Karwacki, Brittany Byerly and Jessica Karwacki. RMU was outshot 32-13 (SOG 22-8). Sarah Arnold made 9 saves in net. The Colonials won the turnover battle, 19-15.

FORCING TURNOVERS
As a team this season, the Colonials rank 34th in the NCAA in caused turnovers and first in the NEC averaging 8.83 per game. 

(GROUND) BALL SO HARD
Dana Davis is third in the NEC and 15th in the nation in ground balls per game, averaging 3.17 per game.

WINNING WAYS
The Class of 2015 seniors departed with 36 wins to their credit, the winningest class in program history. The Class of 2016 has been a part of 30 victories thus far, needing 6 wins this season to tie that record.

Dana Davis, Kerri Sayrafe and Brittany Byerly (twice) have each scored five points in a game so far this season for the Colonials.

SO FRESH
The Colonials have ten freshman and eleven first-year players on the roster.  Six of the eleven have seen game time, including goalkeepers Sarah Arnold and Becky Schoenecker. Kerri Sayrafe, Maggie Stella and Sophia Eureka have each scored a goal, with Sayrafe recording a hat trick & five-point game vs. St. Bonaventure.

NCAA ALL-TIME LEADER
Jessica Karwacki is the NCAA's all-time leader in draw controls, currently with 574 draw controls, recording a season-high 17 in the home victory over St. Bonaventure. Her career average is tops in the nation at 10.44 per game. This season, Karwacki is averaging 6.0 draw controls per game, first in the NEC and 6th in the nation.
