Colonials Start Strong, Finish Strong in Win at CMU

Mount Pleasant, Mich. – Robert Morris University women's lacrosse gets back in the win column with a 19-14 road victory over Central Michigan University on Sunday afternoon.

The Colonials started strong, scoring six consecutive goals and limiting the Chippewas possession in the opening ten minutes of the game. But Central Michigan battled back, eventually taking a 12-11 lead in the opening minutes of the second half. Robert Morris finished as strong as it started, scoring six of the last seven goals to take the 19-14 win.

Corey Karwacki was part of both the six goal swings at the start and the finish and led RMU, tying a career-high seven points on four goals and three assists. Katie Breeze also scored four goals on four shots and had four draw controls. Brittany Byerly and Emily Jamison had four-point outings as well, Byerly on two goals and two assists and Jamison on three goals and one assist. Freshman Kerri Sayrafe posted two goals and an assist while Dana Davis and Jessica Karwacki each scored two goals.

Davis paced the Colonials, picking up five of the team's eight ground balls, caused four turnovers and recorded five draw controls. Jessica Karwacki led RMU with six draw controls. Maggie Stella and Megan Wolfgang each caused two turnovers while Wolfgang gather three draw controls.

Robert Morris (3-5) returns home to face Delaware State on Friday, April 1 at 5:00pm.
