Colonials Wrap Regular Season vs. Wagner & The Mount

Robert Morris tied for first in NEC heading into final weekend

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team hosts Wagner and Mount St. Mary's in the final weekend of the regular season. The Colonials are in a three-way tie for first place in the Northeast Conference standings, with Wagner and Bryant. Robert Morris is looking to clinch a spot in the NEC tournament with a top four conference finish and have the opportunity to win the regular season title and the right to host the conference championships.The first-place showdown with Wagner opens the weekend on Friday at 3:00pm. Sunday's 1:00pm contest with Mount St. Mary's is Senior Day and the team will honor its seven seniors prior to the start of the game.

LAST TIME OUT
Robert Morris outscored Saint Francis 7-2 in the final 15 minutes and 28 seconds to take a 13-11 victory and remain tied for first place in Northeast Conference play. Jessica Karwacki racked up seven points on four goals and three assists, including a goal that took just six seconds for Karwacki to take from winning the draw to hitting the back of the net, tying an NCAA record for the fastest goal from the draw in women's lacrosse history. Karwacki's four goals were matched by Emily Jamison who also scored a season-high four goals, pacing the Colonials offense. Karwacki won 12 draw controls, as Robert Morris dominated the draw 16-10. Micah Brown and Megan Wolfgang led the defensive effort, each with two ground balls. Brown caused three turnovers while Wolfgang caused two.

Robert Morris is 6-6 all-time vs. Wagner and 4-8 all-time against Mount St. Mary's.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
WAGNER
The Seahawks rank first in the conference in caused turnovers (9.21) and ground balls per game (17.86). Wagner is also 2nd in the conference in scoring defense at 9.50.

Shea Gegan leads Wagner in scoring and recently became the NCAA's all-time Division I career leader in caused turnovers. Gegan was named NEC defensive player of the week, her fourth weekly honor this season, causing five turnovers vs. the Mount, to go along with two goals, on three shots, and four assists. She added a game-high eight groundballs and three draw controls. Gegan is ranked second in the NEC in assists, points and caused turnovers and is fourth in the league in goals.

MOUNT ST. MARY'S
Molly Morris and Nicole Lantuh are the Mount's top two scorers on the season, and the duo both rank among the top-10 in the NEC in goals and points per game. The pair are tied for sixth in the league with 2.00 goals per game each, while Morris ranks fifth in points per contest (3.07). Sammie Knapp and Kelly Maloney are also 20+ goal-scorers. Jannel Daufenbach, Knapp & Maloney lead the team in draw controls.

Senior goalie Steph Rurkowski holds a .465 save percentage in the cage and continues to lead the NEC in saves, averaging 9.40 a contest. Rurkowski is the 9th ranked goalkeeper in the NCAA.

NEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jessica Karwacki earned her second conference honor after a 7-point performance at SFU. Karwacki tied the NCAA record for fastest goal from the draw. She also recorded 12 draw controls to go with her 4 goals & 3 assists.

RECORD SETTER
Jessica Karwacki is the NCAA's all-time leader in draw controls, currently with 634 draw controls, recording a season-high 17 in the home victory over St. Bonaventure. Her career average is tops in the nation at 10.06 per game. This season, Karwacki is averaging 6.86 draw controls per game, first in the NEC and 4th in the nation.

STRONG DEFENSE
As a team this season, the Colonials rank 31st in the NCAA in caused turnovers and second in the NEC averaging 8.93 per game.

(GROUND) BALL SO HARD
Dana Davis is second in the NEC and 14th in the nation in ground balls per game, averaging 3.00. Davis is also fourth in the NEC in caused turnovers, averaging 1.36 per game, 70th in the NCAA.

WINNING WAYS
The Class of 2016 has been a part of 36 victories, tying the Class of 2015 seniors as the winningest class in program history. One more win will set the all-time record.
