Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team opens the 2017 season on the road against Bucknell. Head Coach
Katy Phillips brings together a roster of ten freshman, a transfer, and 19 returning upperclassmen, including four seniors and three all-NEC selections from last year's NEC semifinal squad.

The 2017 Colonials are captained by senior attacker
Katie Breeze, senior defender
Megan Wolfgang, and junior midfielder
Dana Davis. Both Wolfgang and Davis were all-NEC team selections last season, Wolfgang earning first-team honors and Davis on second team. Breeze (22 points) and Davis (34 points) are two of the team's leading scorers returning to lead the Colonials offensive attack.
Wolfgang was a force on defense in 2016, causing 20 turnovers and collecting 24 ground balls while also earning eight draw controls. The Colonials return sophomores

Katelyn Miller to the lineup.
Robert Morris posted a 9-8 record in 2016, the program's third consecutive winning season. The Colonials are aiming for a return trip to the NEC tournament, following a semifinal appearance last year. Robert Morris holds an 84-112 overall program record entering the 2017 campaign.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Bucknell last year reached double figures in victories for the third time in program history and qualified for the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since 2009. The Bison return seven regular starters, the team's top two point scorers, two All-Patriot League defenders and last year's starting goalie from a squad that posted an eight-win improvement from the previous season. Senior Annie Gilbertson was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection last year, while classmate and fellow defender Lucia Smircich was a Second Team All-Patriot League pick as a freshman.
CAREER MARKS
Davis enters her junior season in ninth place all-time in ground balls at Robert Morris with 96, averaging a program record best 2.82 ground balls per game. Davis also averages 1.35 caused turnovers per game, the second-highest average in RMU history. Breeze is tied for the program lead in man-up goals with 9, tied with
Emily Jamison '16.

Saturday's game will mark the earliest season opener in Colonials history, one day sooner than in the 2012 season, when RMU topped Howard 18-9 on February 5.
