Colonials Wrap Non-Conference Hosting Rival Duquesne

Moon Township, Pa. - Robert Morris University women's lacrosse wraps up its non-conference slate at home against crosstown rival Duquesne this Saturday. The Colonials bring a 5-4 record into the weekend, seeking the program's first win over the Dukes.

PROMOTIONS
The first 100 fans will take home a pair of RMU sunglasses. It's Youth Lacrosse Day! Local girls lacrosse teams are invited to stay after the game for an autograph session with the Colonials.

LAST TIME OUT
The Colonials are coming off back-to-back wins after a 12-7 victory over St. Bonaventure. RMU held the Bonnies to just four even-strength goals and kept them scoreless for the final 20:39 of the game, with the Colonials defense allowing just one goal in the second half. Freshman Annie Sachs led the Colonials in scoring with a hat trick and an assist, while junior Dana Davis scored a goal and finished with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers, also earning six draw controls. Freshman Katelyn Miller made 10 saves to earn her fifth win of the season. RMU picked up 36 ground balls and caused 22 turnovers in the winning effort.

WEEKLY HONORS
Davis earns lauds as the NEC's defensive player of the week while Sachs is named NEC rookie of the week.

Davis scored four goals and beyond that, played terrific all-around games leading the Colonials in multiple categories in RMU's back-to-back wins over Liberty 13-10 and St. Bonaventure 12-7. Against Liberty, Davis recorded a hat trick, eight ground balls, three draw controls and three ground balls. At St. Bonaventure, Davis scored a goal and finished with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers, also earning six draw controls.

Sachs scored a pair of hat tricks last week and added an assist in both games to record back-to-back four-point outings for the Colonials. In the win over Liberty, Sachs scored three goals and an assist, adding two ground balls, two draw contols and a caused turnover to her stat line. More than just an offensive producer, Sachs also chipped in a draw control, caused turnover and picked up a pair of ground balls, to go with her hat trick and assist in the Colonials win Saturday.

CAUSING A RUCKUS
Robert Morris is #1 in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game with a 16.33 average. The Colonials have 148 caused turnovers in nine games played. The next closest team to RMU is NEC opponent LIU Brooklyn, averaging 13.43 caused turnovers per game with 94 through seven games played. Senior Megan Wolfgang leads the Colonials averaging 2.67 per game, third in the NEC and 8th in the NCAA. Davis is fifth in the NEC and 19th nationally averaging 2.33 per game. Sachs, freshman Meghan Crouse and sophomore Maggie Stella are all ranked in the top 100 nationally.
 
GROUND GAME
RMU has been solid in collecting ground balls, ranked 2nd in the NCAA in ground balls per game with 23.89, first in the NEC. Davis is third in the NEC and 13th in the NCAA averaging 3.67 ground balls per game. Both Sachs and Wolfgang are also in the top 100 in the NCAA, 12th & 13th in the NEC, respectively.

SACHS ATTACK
Freshman Annie Sachs is leading the Colonials in scoring with 35 points on 23 goals and 12 assists. The midfielder from Baldwin, Md. has been the leading scorer in eight of the first nine games, with former Dulaney High School teammate Mackenzie Gandy leading the other game. Sachs is first among NEC players in scoring and ranked #25 in the NCAA in points, second in the conference in goals and 50th nationally. 

MILLER THRILLER
Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Miller coming off back-to-back double-digit save performances, making 11 saves in the Colonials win over Liberty, and ten at St. Bonaventure. Miller has made 80 saves this season, first in the NEC and 15th in the NCAA (out of 150 goalkeepers). Miller's 80 saves rank her fifth all-time among saves leaders at RMU in just her rookie season. The freshman from Bel Air, Md. is averaging 8.89 saves per game, has a .494 save percentage, and sports a 9.33 goals against average, all top two numbers in program history.

412 CREW
RMU sports a trio of players from the Pittsburgh area, sophomore goalkeeper Kaylee Coyle (Shaler), sophomore midfielder Taylor Lewand (Oakland Catholic), and sophomore Shannon Lynch (Shaler). The Dukes have two, senior midfielder Tess Drotar (Mars/Pine-Richland) and sophomore defender Taylor Hopkins (Moon).

Senior Katie Breeze is tied for the program lead in player-up goals with 9 (Emily Jamison 2013-16).
