Athens, Ohio – Two second half goals sank the Robert Morris University women's soccer team in its season opener as the Colonials fell to Ohio, 2-0, this afternoon from Chessa Field.
Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Bruckner made eight saves for Robert Morris (0-1, 0-0 NEC) in her collegiate debut, highlighted by a three-save sequence in the 56th minute. Greer Monahan, Kristina Kelley, and Nicolette Casarcia each generated a team-high two shots.
Ohio (1-0, 0-0 MAC) picked up its first goal in the 52nd minute when Bryce Hueber found the back of the net. The hosts doubled their lead in the 68th minute when Allie Curry ripped a shot to the right of Bruckner from 20 yards out.
RMU pushed for a goal late, but attempts from Monahan and Casarcia in the final 10 minutes were off target.
Robert Morris returns to Moon Township for its home opener on Sunday, August 20 at noon when Milwaukee comes to town.
