Moon Township, Pa. – Irekpitan Ozzy-Momodu, a rising sophomore on the Robert Morris University women's basketball team, recently completed a standout campaign with Great Britain at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Under-20 Women's European Championship.
Ozzy-Momodu emerged as one of the top post players in Division B, pacing all players in offensive rebounds per game (5.1), rebounds per game (12.1), and double-doubles (4). The London, England native also ranked fourth in efficiency per game (17.0) and fifth in field goal percentage (.491), while contributing 10.6 points per contest.
Her four double-doubles – one more than the next best player – came consecutively, beginning with a 15-point, 19-rebound performance against Lithuania on July 9. Ozzy-Momodu played a tournament-high 34 minutes in that contest, helping lead Great Britain to a 65-54 upset win over a Lithuania squad that ultimately claimed third place and advanced to Division A. She followed that up with a 13-point, 14-rebound effort against Ukraine, then scored a tournament-best 20 points to go along with 17 caroms in a 58-50 triumph over Greece to close stage play in Group A.
Ozzy-Momodu's offensive (9) and total rebound (19) numbers against Lithuania also were game highs among all players in Division B. Great Britain finished 2-3 in the group stage and claimed 10th overall after splitting its final two games against Denmark and Greece.
