Moon Township, Pa. – Robert Morris University Director of Athletics
Craig Coleman, M.D., announced Monday that Rob Day has been named head strength & conditioning coach with the Colonials.
"We're excited to have Rob Day as our new head strength & conditioning coach at RMU," Coleman said. "He brings a breadth of experience in the training of many sports and has worked well with coaches at every level of college athletics. His passion for what he does is palpable and will certainly be matched by our student-athletes."
Day joins the RMU coaching staff after spending the past year at Shippensburg in the same capacity. While with the Red Raiders, Day was responsible for the design and implementation of all aspects of the strength and conditioning program for a department that featured 20 NCAA Division II programs.
Prior to joining Shippensburg, Day was the head strength & conditioning coach at Millersville University in 2016-17, another Division II program in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) that featured 18 programs.
A 2012 graduate of Lynchburg College with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology, Day also earned a Master of Science degree in sport and exercise psychology from Lock Haven University in 2017.
Day began his career as a student coach with his alma mater in Lynchburg, Va., before serving as an intern at Villanova in 2014. He has also served as a volunteer with Mount St. Mary's (2017) and Delaware (2018).
Day served as the head strength & conditioning coach at Rosemont College (2013-14), Albright College (2014-15) and York College (2015-16).
A registered and certified strength & conditioning coach with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Day also is certified with the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and USA Weightlifting.
Day earned Performance Enhancement Specialist status from the National Academy of Sports Medicine earlier this year and is also certified by Functional Movement Systems (FMS), Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR) and the National Association of Speed & Explosion (NASE).
