Smithfield, R.I. – The Robert Morris University men's soccer team fell in its Northeast Conference (NEC) opener this afternoon, giving up a pair of first-half goals in a 2-0 defeat to Bryant.
Robert Morris (2-7-1, 0-1-0 NEC) conceded in the 11th and 18th minutes, dropping its chance to earn its first victory over Bryant (1-6-1, 1-0-0 NEC) in program history.
Antonio Teceros opened the scoring with his second of the season, coming off a feed from Ben Williams. Seven minutes later, Jared Lee headed home a cross from Felipe Cypriano.
RMU responded with a header over the bar by Zac Sherman, followed by a Lorenzo Guagneli attempt saved by Olivier Larente. The Colonials put together a stronger effort in attack in the second half by firing seven shots, but none could find their way behind Larente.
Winter Fondi made six saves in defeat. Owen Pearce led RMU with three shot attempts.
Robert Morris concludes a four-match road trip on Sunday, Sept. 30 at noon against Sacred Heart.
