PITTSBURGH -- The Robert Morris University men's hockey team will host a 'Hockey For Heroes' game Saturday, Nov. 9 at the RMU Island Sports Center, with active military members, veterans and first responders receiving free admission to watch the Colonials battle league rival Canisius.

With the display of a valid ID -- Veterans Designated Driver's License, VA Health Care Card, DD 214, Military ID, DD Form 1173-1 or First Responders ID -- at the Island Sports Center front desk, our real-life heroes will receive a free ticket for Saturday's 7:05 p.m. faceoff. They will also be able to buy discounted $8 seats for any accompanying family members.

As part of the event, real-life heroes will be honored on the ice during the first intermission, in addition to a general recognition of any military members, veterans or first responders who spend the evening with us. Also, the 'Chuck-A-Puck' contest during the second intermission will generate proceeds to benefit the RMU Center for Veterans and Military Families.

After the game, fans are encouraged to join the team on Colonials Arena ice for a Skate with the Colonials session. The post-game event is free with fans who bring their own skates, or just $3 for those who need to rent skates from the Island Sports Center.

Now in its 16th season of NCAA Division I men's hockey, RMU is off to a 3-1 start in Atlantic Hockey Association play, tied for second in the 11-team league. Saturday's matchup with Canisius is the back end of a home-and-home series with the Golden Griffins, with the first game taking place Friday in Buffalo, New York.
