Smigiera, Wollet Attend Campbell Trophy® Summit

Pair of former defensive stalwarts take part in summit at Stanford University

Moon Township, Pa. – A pair of former Robert Morris University student-athletes recently had the opportunity to attend the Third Annual Campbell Trophy® Summit, sponsored by Intuit, Inc., at Stanford University August 14-17.

Former defensive back Andy Smigiera (2013-17) and former linebacker Adam Wollet (2015-18) were among 214 pervious Campbell Trophy® nominees to attend the summit and interact and learn from many of the nation's top entrepreneurs and CEOs about the lessons that have guided them to the highest levels of success.

Smigiera, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in both accounting and finance, was a Campbell Trophy® nominee in 2016. He finished his career with the Colonials with 184 tackles, including 90 solo takedowns.

"I came from Buffalo, New York, but moved down to Pittsburgh for school and I met a lot of people in the business world who knew a lot of people from Robert Morris," Smigiera said. "It allowed me to get a lot of internships downtown, which helped my career. Robert Morris definitely has a great balance for a lot of student-athletes."

Wollet, a two-time Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2017, 2018) who was a Campbell Trophy® nominee in 2018, concluded his career last season at Robert Morris by leading the team in tackles with 111. That pushed his career total in the category to 314, which ranks third all-time in program history. Wollet is one of just four players to eclipse 300 career tackles.

A two-time Academic All-American according to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Wollet earned first team honors in 2018 after garnering second team accolades in 2017. He is the just the fifth student-athlete from Robert Morris to be named to the Academic All-America Team on multiple occasions. Wollet graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance.

A four-day event, the 2019 Summit included leadership workshops, a career expo, team building activities, a physical and mental competition dubbed the "Campbell Championship Series," a dinner cruise of the San Francisco bay and several other activities designed to build relationships.

"Every year I come here I gain new friends that I never thought I would be able to talk to in all different fields," Smigiera said. "It's just the people who you meet here, we all have the common goal that we play football. Now that we're done playing football we're looking for other avenues to be successful."

Companies that participated in the career expo included Altamont Capital, Bank of American Merrill Lynch, Deloitte, Enjoy, EY, Google, Intuit, JMI Sports, McChrystal Group, SoFi, Sonim Technologies, WeDriveU and the XFL as well as professionals from the medical and real estate fields.
