LAST TIME OUT

The Colonials earned their second straight win of the season last Saturday at The Joe, thrashing Akron 18-4 to move to 2-1 on the season.

Eleven players record goal and 13 record at least a point. Clio Kerr netted a hat trick and added an assist to pace RMU in scoring with four points, while freshman Julia Koterwas netted the first of her collegiate career in the second half.

Keeper Katelyn Miller became the all-time winningest goalie in the history of the program, moving past Kaitlin Pentz '14 with her 34th career victory for the Colonials after a four-save performance in net.

HISTORY LESSON

The Colonials have not started the season 3-0 at home since the 2015 campaign when they defeated Cincinnati, Detroit, and St. Bonaventure, and will have an opportunity to replicate that feat this weekend agains the Bison.

The Colonials are 4-4 all-time vs. Bucknell,  but have won just one out of three matchups between the two schools at home. RMU defeated the Bisons in their last meeting, a 13-10 victory in Lewisburg, Pa. last March.

OPPOSITION RESEARCH

The Bison currently sit at 2-3 overall on the season, and are currently riding a three-game losing streak after starting the season 2-0.

The Bison have a different makeup than they have in years past, however, as first year head coach Jackie Dando has revamped her roster that carries 43 players, including 13 newcomers.

Junior attacker Eve Calabria paces the Bison offensively, currently leading her team in total points with 20 as well as goals with 11 on the year.

WEATHER REPORT

Partly cloudy skies and a high of 31 degrees are expected for Saturday's clash at The Joe.  While there is little chance of snow, brisk winds of upwards of 15 MPH are expected throughout much of the afternoon.

THEY SAID IT

"One of the things we've been trying to work on offensively is our transition game, which I think we did today.  We didn't have a lot of turnovers in the midfield so it turned out well." - Miller on what she liked in RMU's win over Akron last weekend.

KNOW BOBBY MO

  • RMU was picked to finish third in the NEC in the preseason coaches' poll, with Wagner (first) and Mount St. Mary's (second) rounded out the top three projected standings.
  • Goalie Miller has started every game for the Colonials since arriving on campus three years ago, a remarkable streak of 56 in a row. She has the best goals-against average (10.18) in the 15-year history of the program and the second-best save percentage (.465). Last week she passed Kaitlin Pentz '14 for the most ever by an RMU goalkeeper after tying the mark against KSU the previous weekend.
  • Miller and Mackenzie Gandy will both serve as team captains for RMU this season after being chosen by their teammates in the offseason.
  • Robert Morris returns ten players who played in all 17 games last season, including three (Kerr, Colegrove, and Miller) who started all 17.
  • The nine-member senior class is the largest cohort on the team. This group has participated in 32 wins so far at RMU and has never had a losing season.
  • The Gandy sisters both rank among the all-time leading scorers in RMU history. Melanie currently sits 13th all-time with 118 points, while Mackenzie is just 25 away from breaking the all-time record of 179 set by Ashley Levering '09.
  • Clio Kerr currently ranks second all-time in draw controls per game at 3.42. Her seven career man-up goals ranks third all-time.
  • RMU has been formidable at Joe Walton Stadium in recent memory, owning a dominant 20-5 overall record at home dating back to the 2017 campaign.

THE SILVA FILE

Entering her third season at the helm of the Colonials, Katrina Silva brings 13 years of Division I head coaching experience to the table. Before taking over the program in 2018, Silva served as an RMU assistant coach for five years and a volunteer assistant for one.

Previous to her time in Moon Township, Silva led the lacrosse programs at Virginia Tech (four years) and Colgate (seven), in addition to Division III Roanoke College. A goalie in her playing days, she was the 1993 Southeastern Conference defensive player of the year for Towson.

Silva will be joined by the returning Cacki Helmer as well as first-year assistant coach Chelsea Rosiek
