Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University softball team continued play in the Clearwater Spring Break Invitational Saturday at the Eddie C. Senior Taryn Miller singled with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, while sophomore Kristýna Malá smacked a one-out single in the bottom of the fifth. Parshall was able to get freshman Danielle Jason and sophomore Erika Bell both to strike out after the single from Malá to end the game.

ON THE BOARD
Penn State scored three in the top of third, added another run in the fourth and then grabbed the eight-run lead with a four-run fifth inning. Freshman Rachael Rhinehart got the start for RMU, allowing two earned runs in three innings.

GAME 2 • vs. Providence • L, 1-9 (5)

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED

Robert Morris (8-10) grabbed the early lead against the Friars, pushing a run across in the top of the third. Freshman Antonia Schaefer reached on an error to open the inning and came around to score courtesy of an RBI single from Bell. Senior Natalie Higgins followed with a walk and senior Briana Bunner reached on an error to load the bases, but senior Madison Riggle grounded out to second to end the threat.

JUMPING IN FRONT

Providence tied it in the bottom of the third, 1-1, with an RBI triple from Mackensie Compton and followed with six runs in the bottom of the fourth. The rally included four hits. In the fifth, the Friars added two more, as an RBI double from Mairѐad O'Sullivan kept the Colonials at bay.
