with a 77-67 victory over Saint Francis U in front of 4,034 at Peoples Court at the UPMC Events Center March 10.
Here's your chance to relive the historic win Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. with the Voice of the Colonials,
Chris Shovlin, and Pat Gallagher Head Coach
Andrew Toole on Facebook and YouTube via the link at
rmu.edu/MBB. Shovlin and Toole will give you a guided tour of the victory, watching the game together virtually and breaking down each key moment.
"It was fascinating to get Coach Toole's inside perspective and to relive one of the greatest wins in Robert Morris basketball history by one of the grittiest Colonial teams ever," Shovlin said. "Even though COVID-19 cut the season short, I personally believe RMU had a couple of games left in them. Viewing the championship game win and chatting about it and the days since with Andy gives us an opportunity to extend a memorable and unique season with a remarkable group of student-athletes."
Sophomore guard
Dante Treacy, who was named the 2020 NEC Tournament MVP, led the Colonials in the win over the Red Flash with 18 points and also added three rebounds, five assists and a steal. He was one of four players to score in double figures in the triumph, as redshirt senior guard
Josh Williams added 17 points and forwards
AJ Bramah and
Yannis Mendy each scored 12. Treacy, Bramah and Williams each also earned spots on the 2020 All-NEC Tournament Team.
RMU posted an overall record of 20-14 (.588) in 2019-20, including a mark of 13-5 (.722) in the NEC. It marked the 11th time in program history the Colonials have reached the 20-win plateau, including the fifth time under Toole.
Over the last 13 years, RMU has posted a record of 261-185 (.585), an average of 20.1 wins per year. During that span the Colonials have earned automatic berths to the NCAA Tournament four times (2009, 2010, 2015, 2020), have appeared in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) on three occasions (2008, 2013, 2014) and have played twice in the CollegeInisder.com Postseason Tournament (2012, 2019).
