Colonials Recognized On NEC Academic Honor Roll

Total of 88 student-athletes across five spring sports garner academic praise

Moon Township, Pa. – A total of 88 Robert Morris University student-athletes were named to the 2020 Northeast Conference (NEC) Spring Academic Honor Roll Thursday, including 33 that earned spots on the 2020 NEC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll.

To be eligible for the NEC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete that participates in a spring sport must own a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or better. Likewise, to be named to the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have compiled a 3.75 GPA or higher.

Spring sports recognized by the NEC include baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's tennis and women's outdoor track & field.

The Robert Morris men's lacrosse team led the way for the spring sports from RMU with 25 student-athletes named to the 2020 NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, including 10 to the 2020 NEC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll. Included among those student-athletes is junior goalkeeper Ben Savick, who as a marketing major owns a perfect 4.00 GPA.

The RMU women's outdoor track & field team placed 20 student-athletes on the 2020 NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, followed by women's lacrosse (19), softball (16) and men's golf (8). Of the 20 student-athletes from outdoor track & field for the Colonials to be named to the NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, nine were selected for the 2002 NEC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll, followed by six each from women's lacrosse and softball and two from men's golf.

Junior Jordan Redinger of the track & field team, a history major, has posted a 3.98 cumulative GPA, while freshman Lauren Chappell posted a 3.97 GPA in her first year in college as a marketing and management major.

Freshmen Jordan Anderson and Julia Koterwas of the women's lacrosse team both recorded a 3.86 GPA in their first academic year, while senior Taryn Miller of the softball team finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.95 in earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Freshman Parker Johnson posted a 3.97 GPA in his rookie season in 2019-20 to pace the RMU golf team.

A record 1,478 student-athletes across league members were named to the 2020 NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, including 411 that were selected for the NEC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll.
