DETROIT, Mich. - The Robert Morris men's soccer team earned a point Saturday evening with a 0-0 draw against the Detroit Mercy Titans at Titan Field.
Goalkeeper Grant Glorioso made six saves to earn his first career clean sheet as RMU moves to 3-4-1 in Horizon League play.
The Titans tested RMU early, forcing Glorioso into a save just over a minute into the game on Demetri Pliakos before Daniel Lyok tested him again a few minutes later.
A pair of corners for the Colonials provided opportunities for an offensive spark early, however nothing came of the set pieces or of Owen Jowett's strike that missed the target as RMU continued to hunt the opening goal.
Despite their efforts, neither side managed to break through in the opening 45 minutes of action Saturday night.
Successive chances for the Titans were blocked away or missed the mark early in the second as Detroit Mercy tried to gain the advantage fresh out of the break, however Glorioso and the Colonials defense held firm.
Charlie Lawrence was denied on a strike by DM keeper Jonathan Kliewer as the physicality ramped up late into the second.
Though a red card on DM's Kyle Bandyk forced the Titans to play man-down the remainder of the game, the Colonials could not solve Detroit Mercy's defensive structure and beat Kliewer for the go-ahead goal.
Glorioso came up with two more timely saves in overtime as RMU held on to secure a point.
