Vikings Overcome RMU In Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Oh. - The Robert Morris women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision against Cleveland State Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea Kingston led RMU with four total shots in the loss.

Cleveland State managed to put the Colonials under pressure early, forcing them to defend a pair of corners in the first two minutes, including one that was almost finished off by Maddie Young in the box.

Isabella Bohlen managed a stop on the next scoring chance from Grace Grant, however the Vikings continued to press.

After another strike from CSU hit the crossbar, Maria Ransom was finally able to breakthrough and put CSU up 1-0 in the 21' after a bout of sustained pressure in their attacking third.

The Colonials answered on the counter, nearly tying things up successive shots from Haleigh Finale and Chelsea Kingston however Cleveland State keeper Kyla Valaitis managed to stop both efforts to preserve the CSU lead.

RMU searched for the equalizer into the second, earning chances from Sofie Lien Fagereng and Chelsea Kingston, however both sailed wide of the target as RMU could not capitalize on the opportunity.

CSU doubled their lead in the 85' to secure the 2-0 win.
