Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team continued a five-match road trip Friday, dropping a 3-1 decision to Purdue Fort Wayne at Gates Athletic Center in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Colonials dipped to 9-16 (.360) overall during the 2021 campaign, including 2-11 (.154) in the Horizon League.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Tied, 5-5, in the first set, the Mastodons used an 8-3 spurt to grab a 12-8 advantage. Purdue Fort Wayne posted a hitting percentage of .371 to open the match, with Katie Crowe and Molly Mirabelli each recording five kills while Madelyn Wurster added four. Overall on the match the Mastodons were able to convert at a .375 clip, including a .600 attack percentage in the fourth and final set that sealed the win with 17 kills in 25 total attempts with just a pair of errors.

RALLY THIRD
Falling behind, 2-0, in the match, the Colonials rallied in the third. Tied, 15-15, RMU posted a 5-0 run to grab a 20-15 advantage. Fifth-year middle blocker
Emma Granger started the rally with a kill and ended the spurt with another. The lead eventually swelled to 24-18 after a pair of service aces from setter
Ashleigh Wallin, and outside hitter
Alyssa Hudak sealed the set triumph with a kill. Wallin finished a dig shy of a double-double, dishing out 31 assists while recording nine digs and a trio of aces.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Hudak and Granger tied for team-high honors with 11 kills each, with Hudak recording a team-high .379 hitting percentage. She finished with 29 total attacks against the Mastodons (7-20 / 5-9 #HLVB) and did not record an attack error. The duo of Hudak and Granger also racked up nine blocks, with each recording four block assists. Libero
Allena Carmody notched 14 digs to pace the defense.
