RMU To Host FansGiving Weekend With Food Bank

Fans can donate to receive ticket to either men's basketball home opener or football finale

Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank (the Food Bank), announced Friday a partnership to host "FansGiving" weekend.

As part of the partnership, fans can receive a ticket to the RMU men's basketball home opener against Mount St. Mary's Friday, Nov. 19, at 7:00 p.m. at the UPMC Events Center or the football season finale against Saturday, Nov. 20, at Noon against Campbell with a donation of five non-perishable food items or a $5.00 donation to the Food Bank. Fans can also receive additional tickets for every $5.00 or five items donated.

"We are grateful for the support of RMU Athletics," said Lisa Scales, President and CEO of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. "This fundraising and awareness initiative helps us fulfill our mission, especially during the holiday season. We look forward to continuing to deepen our partnership with RMU to combat food insecurity in our region so that all neighbors have enough food to eat this holiday season and throughout the new year."

The opportunity to donate begins Monday, Nov. 15, with a donation barrel located outside of the Peoples Gate at the UPMC Event Center. Fans that donate prior to the day of the game will obtain a voucher for the game of their choice. Due to a 31 percent increase food security rates across the Food Bank's 11-county service area since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, by taking part in RMU FansGiving 2021, fans help play a role in ensuring that the Food Bank can continue to provide meals to people in need this holiday season.

Fans can donate virtually either online at RMU FansGiving 2021, or they can text "rmu21" to 50155 to make a donation, as well. Fans that donate virtually will be able to pick up their tickets at the UPMC Events Center box office inside the Peoples Gate or at the ticket kiosk at Joe Walton Stadium on the day of the game.
