Colonials Fall To Wright State

CANONSBURG, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's soccer team dropped a Thursday morning matchup with Wright State by a final score of 4-0.

The loss drops the Colonials to 1-5 (1-5 HL) on the season.

Rachel Fullmer earned a few decent looks for RMU off the opening kick off, probing the WSU back line with a number of nice runs however she steered an early shot wide of the net.

Sheridan Reid nearly took advantage of a golden opportunity when she found herself alone in the box with the ball following a battle for possession with the Raiders keeper, however a quick whistle blew the play dead on a foul against Reid before she could get a shot off.

Wright State worked up their possession through the mid-field and eventually turned it into offense, striking first after Lauren Borchert tapped home a loose ball in the box after a nice run down the left wing from Olga Massombo to set up the chance.

RMU earned a late corner, but couldn't convert on the chance before time ran out on the opening 45 minutes of action.

RMU was nearly able to capitalize off of a chaotic scramble in the box to start the second after a volley into the penalty area bounced around and caromed off of several players, however Kaoru Hayashi was not able to settle the ball down for a shot before the WSU back line managed to clear.

WSU made it 2-0 after Josie Krupp worked her way into the box with possession, drawing Courtney Worstell out of position before slipping around the keeper and slotting her effort into the lower left corner.

Another volley from Kayla Veloso-Lima was turned aside before the Raiders tacked on two more goals before time expired to secure the 4-0 win.
