Moon Township, Pa. – For the ninth consecutive season, the RMU men's golf program was recognized for its excellence in the classroom as it was bestowed with the Team Academic Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
RMU posted a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.26 over the 2020-21 academic year, surpassing the Team Academic Award qualifying mark of 3.0. The Colonials were one of three Horizon League programs recognized by the GCAA, joining Purdue Fort Wayne and Youngstown State.

Redshirt sophomore Cole Chase recorded the highest GPA on the team in 2020-21, coming in at 3.94 as a finance major. RMU saw seven student-athletes earn Horizon League Academic Honor Roll recognition between the fall and spring semesters for posting a 3.20 cumulative GPA and completing at least three semesters of studies. Two of those student-athletes, fifth-year Kyle Grube and junior Chase Miller, garnered GCAA All-America Scholar plaudits in 2019-20 for their academic and athletic prowess, and are set to do so again for 2020-21.
Under 21st-year head coach Jerry Stone, RMU has won 23 competitions and made a pair of NCAA Regionals in 2015 and 2019. The Colonials finished fifth in their debut Horizon League campaign in 2020-21, and are slated to return 11 student-athletes in 2021-22 – highlighted by Miller, who led the team with a 75.5 stroke average and three top-10 finishes over the abbreviated season.
