DOVER, Del. - A goal and an assist from Gabriella Lecuona helped the Robert Morris University women's soccer team secure its second straight win with a 2-1 victory over Delaware State Friday night. 

Freshman Kennedy Lazenby also recorded her first career goal in the win as RMU improves to 3-4 on the season. 

A dominant first half for the Colonials saw them grab a 2-0 lead all while denying the Hornets a single shot attempt, out-chancing DSU 15-0 in the opening 45 minutes of action. 

Kaoru Hayashi got things going just 51 seconds in, testing Delaware keeper Eronia Shabani with a long strike that missed just wide. 

Minutes later, Sheridan Reid and Haleigh Finale each nearly opened the scoring, however Shabani again was in position to make a save. 

A third chance in the box from Kristi Kania sailed high after the initial strike rang off the crossbar. 

Reid pushed another chance wide coming down the wing on an ensuing rush, however the Colonials regrouped and soon found themselves up 1-0 after another Reid volley popped a rebound out to a trailing Lecuona, who pounced on the loose ball for her second goal in as many games to give the Colonials a 1-0 edge 24 minutes in. 

More pressure from the Colonials including some solid work in the midfield helped deny DSU anything offensively before Lazenby made it 2-0, corralling a ball near the far post before slotting it behind Shabani to double the RMU lead at the half. 

The Colonials pressed for a third goal, however chances from Lazenby and Hayashi were snuffed out. 

DSU managed to make things interesting late, cutting the Colonial lead to 2-1 after Jada Lee snuck one in low inside the post.  Despite the late marker, RMU was able to keep a lid on things, not conceding another shot attempt the rest of the game to hold on for the 2-1 win.
