GREEN BAY, Wisc. The Robert Morris University women' soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four games Thursday with a 1-1 draw against the Green Bay Phoenix at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
Haleigh Finale scored her team-leading third goal of the season as the Colonials secured their first point in the 2021 Horizon League standings.
RMU's leading scorer stayed hot in the Colonials' conference opener, burying her third of the season after a foul on the sophomore in the box set her up with her first PK attempt this year just six minutes into the game.
Finale's clinical finish gave RMU another early lead and extended her point streak to two games as the Colonials hit the ground running Thursday afternoon.
RMU kept up the pressure, earning a corner minutes later as well as a chance from Angela Van Damia that sailed wide.
The Phoenix responded with chances of their own, forcing Isabella Bohlen into a pair of saves in the first half, however the keeper was in position to help preserve the RMU lead.
Though they finished the first tied in shots at four apiece, the Colonials remained in control at 1-0 after 45 minutes of action.
Finale tested Green Bay keeper Annie Mason with another good chance as the second kicked off, however the Colonials found a second goal harder to come by as Green Bay responded on the counter attack.
Savanna Hayes tied things at 1-1 for Green Bay in the 61', firing a shot into the lower right hand corner of the Colonials net to bring the Phoenix even.
Despite a late push from GB, neither side was able to find the go-ahead goal in regulation play as things headed into overtime with the game knotted at one all.
Despite outshooting Green Bay 3-0 in the extra period, the Colonials could not find a second goal and settled for a 1-1 draw.
