PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's soccer team lost a Wednesday afternoon matchup against the Oakland Golden Grizzles 4-0 at the North Athletic Complex, dropping their overall record to 1-8.
Owen Jowett led RMU with two total shots.
The Golden Grizzlies started off in the driver's seat early on Wednesday afternoon, going up 1-0 in the 7' after Oakland's Mikey Ketteman won a foot race to the Colonial net before turning and firing a sharp-angle shot that slipped through the RMU goal to make it 1-0.Â
The Colonials had their chances to respond, mis-connecting after efforts from Gal Ben Dayan and Charlie Lawrence missed their mark or were saved by Oakland keeper Finn Jurak.Â
RMU survived one more close call on an OU corner as time expired on the first to get out of the opening half down just 1-0.Â
The Golden Grizzlies added a second and third goal in the 57' and 64' to take control of things. Despite the deficit, RMU continued to fight, nearly getting on the scoreboard after a great run from Bryan Akongo ended with his shot trickling just wide.
One more goal from OU in the put the game out of hand 75' to lock up the win for Oakland.
