Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU track & field team continued its 2021-22 indoor season Saturday at the Gulden Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa., on the campus of Bucknell University.
TEAM RESULTS
The Colonials finished third out of eight teams Saturday at Gerhard Fieldhouse, compiling 49 points. The host Bison claimed the team championship, finishing with 242 points. Saint Francis U (64) finished second.
HUNTERS & COLLECTORS
Graduate student
Keturah Hunter picked up another individual championship in the weight throw for RMU Saturday, finishing first and scoring 10 points thanks to a toss of 17.82 meters (58'5.75"). It marked the fifth indoor individual crown for the Florence, S.C., native in the weight throw in seven competitions as a member of the Colonials. Finishing second for RMU in the same event was fellow grad student
Yessie Valencia, who posted a throw of 17.28 meters (56'8.50"). Hunter and Valencia own the top two distances in the weight throw in the Horizon League thus far during the 2021-22 season.

In the shot put, graduate student
Estelle Katende joined Hunter in earning an individual championship by unleashing a heave of 14.11 meters (46'3.50") to outlast Elizabeth Makar (14.01) of East Stroudsburg. Also scoring in the event for the Colonials was rookie
Maizee Fry, who finished at 13.07 meters (42'10.75") to finish fifth. Between the weight throw and shot put, RMU racked up 30 points. The Colonials added two more points in the jumps, as junior
Lauren Chappell finished sixth in the long jump at 5.13 meters (16'10"), while freshman
Rayna Todero earned sixth in the triple jump with a final mark of 11.00 meters (36'1.25").
THE LONG WAY
Freshman
Carmen Medvit earned silver in the 3,000-meter in her second collegiate indoor performance, clocking in at 10:41.54. She trailed only Abigail Potticary of Loyola (Md.) (10:29.09). In the 800-meter, sophomore
Rio Strosnider posted a personal best by clocking in at 2:28.10, which helped her finish fourth. Freshman
Maddie Kinton just missed scoring for RMU in the 1,000-meter, crossing the finish line with a time of 3:12.56, while rookie
Laura Croco took home the top time for the Colonials in the mile at 5:33.85.
SPRINT AHEAD
Freshman
Maddie Raymond clocked in at 7.95 seconds during the preliminaries of the 60-meter to qualify for the finals in the event, where she posted a time of 8.02. In addition to her field events, Chappell qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.38 seconds. In the finals, Chappell finished seventh at 9.39. Elicia Moore, who finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:00.11), while rookie
Hannah McDanel claimed sixth in the 200-meter dash (26.37).
UP NEXT
RMU returns to Youngstown State to close out the month of January. The Colonials will compete in the YSU Mid-Major National Invitational Friday, Jan. 28, and Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS).
