Highland Heights, Ky. – The Robert Morris University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Northern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon in Horizon League action.
With the tie, the Colonials stand at 6-2-4 overall behind a 1-2-2-mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Norse sit at 1-6-2 this season with a 1-2-1 mark in conference play. This is the first time these two teams have tied in their series.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Both teams came out firing as they recorded five total shots, two of them being on goal in the opening 11 minutes of the match. Northern Kentucky got on the board first at the 13:49-mark, when Maria Wiefering fired a shot from distance and found the top right corner of the net, 1-0. The Colonials looked to answer as freshman
Malia Kearns saw her shot sail over the crossbar in the 15th minute. Classmate
Renae Mohrbacher put a shot on goal to the bottom right of the net but was unfortunately saved by goalkeeper Mimi Stines. Both programs continued to pepper the net as they totaled seven more shots in the final 12 minutes of the half.
In the second half, the Norse came out firing at redshirt senior keeper
Isabella Bohlen as she collected three saves on seven shots faced in a seven-minute span. In the 68th minute, junior
Haleigh Finale looked to knot the score as her shot was saved by Stines. After a free kick by Robert Morris that sailed to the Northern Kentucky box, a misplay by a Norse defender saw the ball find the back of the net for a team goal at the 71:00-mark. 1-1. The two defenses were stellar in the final 17 minutes as only three total shots were recorded.

Chris Shaw said. "We need to find a way to be better on the road. However, we did come away with a point against a very aggressive and physical NKU team."
