Pittsburgh, Pa. – Behind two assists from sophomore
Kassidy Fischer, the Robert Morris University women's soccer team captured a 2-0 shutout victory at La Roche on Tuesday afternoon at the Baierl Athletic Complex in non-conference action.
With the win, the Colonials improve to 7-2-4 overall this season. Meanwhile, the Redhawks drop to 2-5-2 this fall. Robert Morris remains unbeaten in non-conference play, holding a 6-0-2 mark this year.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The Colonials played most of the first half on the offensive side as they tallied 13 shots in the opening 45 minutes. Robert Morris looked to break the scoring drought when Fischer and senior
Gabriella Lecuona each placed a shot on goal that was saved by keeper Julianna Hornikel. At the 43:47-mark, the Colonials got on the board when junior
Miyu Kojima put a header to the left side of the net, 1-0. RMU held La Roche to one shot in the first half. The Colonials continued to pepper the net in the second half, as they recorded 10 shots on goal. In the 89th minute, Robert Morris stretched its lead when freshman
Nicola Mosionek took a pass from Fischer and beat the goalkeeper to the center of the net, 2-0.
ON THE OFFENSIVE
The Colonials fired shots all afternoon as they recorded their fourth game this season with 20 or more total shots. In the 44th minute, Fischer dribbled down the right sideline and placed a cross to the far-left post that saw Kojima head it past the keeper for her first goal of the season. Before the end of regulation, Fischer replicated the same scenario as she placed a cross into the box that found the head of Mosionek.

"I'm glad we were able to squeeze this game in today and provide an opportunity for everyone to play," head coach
