Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team fell to Purdue Fort Wayne 1-3. The Colonials overall record is now 9-17 (.346) during the 2022 season, and 2-12 (.143) in the Horizon League.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Early on in Fort Wayne, Ind., the Colonials fell behind 3-6. RMU reset and scored the next five points as sophomore
Tatum Otolski and junior
Abby Ryan earned a kill, along with three attack errors by the Mastodons. This made the score 8-6 and Fort Wayne took a timeout. Moving forward in the set, RMU stayed ahead 18-15 with another kill by Otolski. The Mastodons would then take on momentum and win the first set 21-25.
In the second set, RMU tied it 1-1, but from then on Purdue Fort Wayne stayed ahead. During the second set,
Abby Ryan shined producing five more kills and four digs. The Colonials fell 17-25.
Beginning the third set, the Colonials fell behind 1-6 but stayed resilient. On three different occasions, RMU scored four times in a row, taking control back in the game and making the score 22-23. The Mastodons failed to win a challenge and then
Abby Ryan spiked another point making it a tie game. The Colonials gave up a point and then the Mastodons made two errors. Sophomore
Ally Christman provided the clutch kill that would send the game to four sets, winning the third, 26-24.
In the fourth and final set, RMU got off to the right start. The Mastodons head coach was given a red card which gave the Colonials a 1-0 lead.

Alyssa Hudak all provided kills, allowing a comfortable 5-1 lead.
Kaitlyn Browns 15 assists, specifically setting up
Ally Christman and
Abby Ryan for six kills each, this set was vital in their success. Unfortunately, when RMU got up 23-21, they would allow the next four points, dropping the set 21-25.
HIGHLIGHTS
Junior outside hitter
Abby Ryan, last night tied her career high in kills with 20 at IUPUI. Tonight, she beat her best, scoring 21 kills. She also showed a double-double on the stat sheet as she got 11 digs to compliment her career high in kills. On four different occasions she's posted 20 or more kills in her RMU tenure.
Ally Christman posted 10 kills, five digs and four service aces. The sophomore was one shy of her career high in service aces where she earned five vs. Milwaukee (10/21/22). Senior
Allena Carmody and freshman
Kaitlyn Brown led the team in digs with 12 each. Brown consistently set her teammates up all night as she paced 42 assists in one match. She posted her career high yesterday in their win against IUPUI with 47 assists.
Carmody now owns on defense, 58 digs in six career games against the Mastodons. Dating back to September of 2018,
Alyssa Hudak holds 60 kills in seven matches when playing Fort Wayne. In this series,
Abby Ryan now has 64 kills in six matches.
UP NEXT
RMU continues their season on the road as they face Oakland (11/1) at 6 p.m. The Colonials then return home to face YSU (11/4) at 6:00 p.m. in the UPMC Events Center.
