Huntington, W.Va. – The Robert Morris University men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 defeat at #6 Marshall on Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Hoops Family Field.

With the loss, the Colonials drop to 3-6-1 this fall. Meanwhile, the Thundering Herd improved to 6-1-2 overall this season. Marshall has won three-straight contests against Robert Morris.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The Thundering Herd controlled the pace early as they recorded three corner kicks and a shot in the opening 13 minutes of the contest. Robert Morris tallied a corner kick before Marshall registered two more shots, one in which was saved by sophomore goalkeeper Friedrich Petrelli. The Thundering Herd ended the scoring drought in the 37th minute when Taimu Okiyoshi delivered a pass to Joao Souza, who beat Pentrlli to the left side of the net, 1-0. Marshall recorded two more shots before the end of the half and held the Colonials without a shot in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, Robert Morris came out aggressive when it tallied three corner kicks and a shot. Marshall extended its lead at the 83:13-mark when Matthew Bell took a pass from Alexander Adjetey and found the back of the net. The Colonials didn't go quietly as they trimmed the lead just a minute later when freshman Anass Hadran fired a shot from distance and found the top right corner of the net, 2-1. Marshall sealed the deal in the 87th minute when Okiyoshi stretched the lead with a late goal.

QUOTABLES
"We did some really good things tonight against a top team which we hopefully can build off of for the stretch run," RMU head coach Jason O'Keefe said. "Marshall is such a good team and asks so many questions, it's hard not to break and unfortunately we did. But I'm really proud of the team's effort."
