Rochester, Mich. – Playing its third-straight road game, the Robert Morris University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at Oakland on Sunday afternoon in Horizon League action.
With the loss, the Colonials fall to 7-3-4 this season with a 1-3-2 mark in conference play. Meanwhile the Golden Grizzlies improve to 5-2-7 overall, behind a 2-1-3 record in league action. Oakland has now won the last three meetings between the two programs.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The Golden Grizzlies were aggressive from the opening kick as they tallied five shots, two of which were on goal and a corner kick in the first 15 minutes. Oakland got on the board first when Carmela Barro found the back of the net at the 18:12-mark, Sharon Sampson and Sami Lopez were credited with the assist. Just a minute and a half later, the Golden Grizzlies stretched its lead when Karabo Dhlamini gave them a 2-0 lead in the 20th minute as Lopez recorded her second assist of the half. Robert Morris was held without a shot in the opening 45 minutes.
In the second half, Oakland continued to pepper the net with shots as it registered five in the first 10 minutes, two in which were saved by redshirt senior goalkeeper
Isabella Bohlen. Freshman
Renae Mohrbacher looked to get the Colonials on the board as her shot sailed right of the goal. In the 71st minute, the Golden Grizzlies increased its lead when Sophia Wilsey took a pass from Sydney Grodsinsky and found the back of the net, 3-0.
