Colonials Conclude Season at NCAA Regionals

Sophomore Laura Croco finishes 2022 campaign strong for RMU

Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU men's and women's cross country teams concluded the 2022 season Friday, battling the elements and the remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole by taking part in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in University Park, Pa., on the campus of Penn State University.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RMU compiled a point total of 826 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional as six Colonials ran the 6,000-meter Blue and White Course at Penn State. Georgetown won the team title with 36 points, while rounding out the top five was West Virginia, Penn, Princeton and Penn State.
 
CROCS
Sophomore Laura Croco paced the Colonials at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, recording a season-best time of 24:15.5. At the 1,200-meter mark of the course Croco sat 189th before finding her stride to move up 18 spots and place 171st. Four of the next five runners for RMU were rookies, with Erin LaQuatra posting at 24:34.0, Samantha Thomas finishing at 24:37.0 and Julia Dill crossing the finish line at 24:43.5.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
The Colonials posted a point total of 720, with Villanova garnering the team title by placing its top five harriers in the top 12 individually. Georgetown finished second, and rounding out the top five was Princeton, La Salle and Pittsburgh.
 
ON THE COURSE
Chris McGlynn capped a solid freshman campaign Friday, pacing the Colonials individually with a time of 32:27.1 in his first 10,000-meter competition at the NCAA Division I level to finish 114th. McGlynn moved up seven spots in the final 1,200 meters. McGlynn was one of a trio of freshmen to take part in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, joining Tyler Paszkowski and Adam Klenovich. Paszkwoski crossed the finish line at 33:43.0, while Klenovich posted a time of 36:35.8.
 
UNDERCLASSMEN
Each of the top five runners for RMU at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional were underclassmen. Sophomores Luke Byrne and Skyler Vavro also competed for the Colonials. Byrne notched a mark of 32:58.7 and finished 128th individually, while Vavro clocked in at 33:54.9.
