Moon Township, Pa. – Former forward Cody Wydo (2011-15) of the RMU men's hockey team has been named as part of the inaugural class of the Atlantic Hockey Hall of Honor, the league announced Tuesday.

In honor of its 20th season, the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) is recognizing the top 20 players from the conference's first 20 seasons as members of the first class of inductees into the Atlantic Hockey Hall of Honor. The AHA is announcing one inductee weekly throughout the 2022-23 season, with the final former student-athlete being recognized the week of Feb. 19, 2023.

Players from current and former Atlantic Hockey programs were eligible for consideration, with the 20 honorees selected based on their on-ice performance during their respective careers. Wydo is the 11th player to be named to the Atlantic Hockey Hall of Honor so far during the 2022-23 season as well as the second consecutive player from RMU. Former forward Zac Lynch (2012-16) was honored Nov. 29, 2022.

Wydo, a native of Southgate, Mich., helped RMU compile an overall record of 80-57-19 (.574) during his four seasons with the Colonials, including a mark of 58-34-17 (.610) in Atlantic Hockey. He helped guide RMU to the 2014 Atlantic Hockey Tournament title and the 2015 Atlantic Hockey regular-season championship, the first for both in program history.

One of 10 finalists for the 2015 Hobey Baker Award, the first member of the Colonials ever to garner that distinction, Wydo was also named to the All-Atlantic Hockey First Team in both 2014 and 2015 and earned a spot on the 2014 All-USCHO Second Team.

During his RMU career, Wydo recorded five hat tricks, including three during his junior campaign in 2013-14. The biggest of those came in the championship game of the 2014 Atlantic Hockey Tournament, when he scored three goals in a 7-4 win over Canisius as the Colonials secured their first automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Wydo scored 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in the 2014 Atlantic Hockey Tournament en route to Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolades.

In 151 career contests, Wydo finished his career at RMU with 150 points thanks to 85 goals and 65 assists. His 85 goals is an Atlantic Hockey career record, and of those goals, 18 came on the power play and 14 were of the game-winning variety. Wydo also produced six short-handed goals and owned a plus-minus of +53 during his time as a member of the Colonials. Wydo owns the program career record for goals while ranking third in points.

Wydo, who was inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2021, signed a professional contract with the Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) after his career with the Colonials. In 191 games over four seasons with the Nailers, Wydo accumulated 166 points. His best season came in 2016-17, when he led Wheeling with 60 points thanks to 30 goals and 30 assists. Wydo also played 12 games across two seasons with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (2016-18) of the American Hockey League (AHL), scoring two goals and notching two helpers.
