Cleveland, Ohio. – The
Robert Morris women's basketball team completed a successful weekend road trip by winning their second straight game in three days, taking down the home Cleveland State Vikings 68-54 at Wolstein Center in Cleveland Ohio. The win moves RMU to 11-12 overall and 9-9 in Horizon League play.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Despite a 15-5 record heading into the contest, Cleveland State never held a lead on the visiting Colonials. In the first six minutes of play, sophomore
Sol Castro accumulated seven points.
Holding a 36-23 lead going into the second half, the Colonials erupted with a 23-4 run, holding the Vikings to only four points in over ten minutes of play.
DOUBLE DIGITS
The victory against Cleveland State marks the second straight game that three RMU players have scored in the double digits.
Ashya Klopfenstein lead the team in points for the second consecutive game, scoring 16 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
Esther Castedo and
Sol Castro followed closely behind with 14 and 13 points respectively.
MAKING THE PASS
The Colonials were credited with 14 assists on the day with
Nina Augustin having four, Castedo earning three and Villaflor, Mastral, and Castro all being credited with two.
BENCH PRESENCE
The RMU bench has been red hot in the past few games. In seven of the Colonials 11 wins this season, the team has led their opponents in bench points. Phoenix Gideon has played a huge role in scoring off the bench, being credited with eight points this afternoon.

The Colonials will return to Moon Township for two games in three days, facing Wright State on Friday, February 18 and Northern Kentucky on Sunday February 20 at the UPMC Event Center.
