Taylor Rhinehart of the RMU softball team took home her first weekly honor as a member of the Colonials Tuesday, as she was named the Horizon League Player of the Week.
In helping the Colonials open conference play 3-0 for the first time since 2017 thanks to a three-game road sweep of Detroit Mercy last weekend, Rhinehart, a native of Woodinville, Wash., produced a slash line of .615/.615/1.038 while scoring a team-high five runs, driving in four and tallying five extra-base hits.
In a
doubleheader sweep to open the series, March 17, Rhinehart finished 3-for-4 at the dish in both games. She hit a pair of doubles in the opener, a 10-2 triumph, and smacked both of her home runs in the nightcap, a 14-8 victory over the Titans. To complete the sweep the next day, a
4-2 win in 10 innings, Rhinehart finished 2-for-5 with a double.

In collecting multi-hit efforts in each contest @ Detroit Mercy, Rhinehart is now tied with sophomore
Charlotte Grover to lead RMU thus far in 2022 in multi-hit games with five. Grover, coincidentally, was named
#HLSB Player of the Week (2/22/22) earlier this season.
Rhinehart enters today's non-conference doubleheader against Akron, the home opener for the Colonials at the North Athletic Complex, hitting .300 (18-for-60) in 20 games, each as a member of the starting lineup. She owns team-high totals in doubles (5) and home runs (3) while ranking second in RBI (11). Rhinehart is tied for sixth in the Horizon League in doubles, eighth in RBI and 10th in slugging (.533).
RMU returns to #HLSB action after hosting the Zips this afternoon, traveling to Chicago, Ill., for a three-game series at UIC beginning Friday, March 25.
