Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU softball team continued an eight-game road trip in the Pacific Northwest Monday, dropping a doubleheader to Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., at Kelly Field. The Colonials fell in game one, 8-0 in six innings, before falling, 3-0, in game two. RMU owns an overall record of 10-5 (.667) during the 2022 campaign.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Senior
Dana Vatakis allowed just one hit through three innings, but the Beavers broke through with four runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth. Eliana Gottlieb opened the inning with a walk and moved to third on a single with one out from Lici Campbell. Gottlieb was gunned down at the plate, however, as sophomore
Charlotte Grover threw her out on a chopper to short from Kaylah Nelson. OSU followed with three consecutive singles with two outs, the last of which drove in a pair and came courtesy of Des Rivera. Gottlieb highlighted a three-run fifth inning for the Beavers with a two-run home run, while a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the sixth from Madison Simon sealed the win.
CIRCLE K
Mariah Mazon earned the win from the pitching circle for Oregon State, striking out eight in five innings. She allowed one baserunner, as freshman
Alaina Koutsogiani was hit by a pitch to lead off the contest. Freshman
Anna Resnik followed with a bunt, with Koutsogiani advancing to second, but Mazon got out of the inning by striking out

WAVE BUILDING
Junior
Rachael Rhinehart continued her stellar start to the 2022 season from the circle in game two against Oregon State. Getting the starting nod, she didn't allow an earned run in her fourth start of the season. She allowed just three hits and struck out seven. Nelson hit an RBI double to left to score the first run of the game for the Beavers, which drove home Campbell, who opened the bottom of the second by drawing one of two walks from Rhinehart on the contest before advancing to second on a passed ball. Kiki Escobar added a two-run single in the fifth, which was aided by an RMU error to lead off the frame.
ON A RUN
The two games against the Colonials marked the home opener at Kelly Field for Oregon State, which improved to 19-3 (.864) overall on the 2022 season. The Beavers were ranked No. 23 in the latest d1softball.com poll and have won 16 consecutive games.

RMU heads to Seattle, Wash., to take on another Pac-12 foe, visiting Washington Tuesday, March 8, at 9:00 p.m. at Husky Softball Stadium.
