Colonials Soar Past Griffins

17 players registered points in RMU's 22-6 win over Canisius

The Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team returned home in dramatic fashion on Wednesday afternoon with a solid 23-6 win over the Canisius Golden Griffins at Joe Walton Stadium. The midweek win moves the Colonials to 2-3 on the year and extends their win streak to two games.

MOMENTS THAT MATTER
The Colonials took no time to take control of the game, going on a 7-0 run to open the contest. RMU went on to tally 17 goals with three players registering hat tricks by the end of the first half. This 17-goal tally serves as the most goals scored by halftime for Bobby Mo since April 10, 2014, when the Colonials took down Sacred Heart 27-11.
13 different players went on to score for the Colonials and 17 different players had points in the win.

I HOPE YOU DIDN'T LIKE THAT HAT

Three separate RMU players scored hat tricks by halftime. Junior Ben Starkey scored his first career hat trick this afternoon and now has goals in three of his last three games. Taggart Clark and Corson Kealey each put up four goals for the Colonials. Clark now has hat tricks in four of his last five games and Kealey has surpassed the 100-goal mark for his NCAA career.

LUCKY NUMBER 13
13 different players scored for the Colonials today. In addition to Starkey, Clark and Kealey, Dan Taddeo and Alex Funk each scored two goals. While Jake Boudreau, Evan Hellmich, Brian Simmons, Steven Dellemonache, Torin Neal, Will Johansen and Nick Pelletier each put one in the back of the net.

WELCOME TO THE PARTY
Goals scored by Brian Simmons, Steve Dellemonache, Torin Neal and Nick Pelletier serves as their first career goals.

PASS IT THIS WAY
Multiple Colonials registered assists in Wednesday's game. Colton Lidstone and Will Johansen each contributed three assists, while Kealey, Taddeo, Johnny Chaisson, Trever Barrett, Elliot Holden and Pelletier each had a helper.

DEFENSE WINS GAMES…WELL AND ALSO OFFENSE
Freshman goalkeeper Nate Randall had a standout performance against the Griffs, making 11 saves and allowing only four goals in nearly 50 minutes of play.

Additionally, James Leary etched his name into program history by registering six CTOs against Canisius. Now, Leary is tied for the second-most CTOs in a single game in program history.

POST GAME QUOTE FROM HEAD COACH CRAIG MCDONALD

"Today was a great team effort and a great win at home. I'm proud of the way our guys handled the quick turnaround from our travels this past weekend. Everyone that stepped on the field played with great energy and passion which allowed us to see success as a group. However, we have to put this win behind us and refocus on improving and preparing for another great opponent on Saturday."
