Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Colonials Soar Past Air Force in Senior Day Comeback

Taggart Clark's game-winner pushes RMU to 3-1 in conference play.

A four-goal fourth quarter by the Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team propelled the team to a 11-10 comeback win on Saturday at Joe Walton Stadium. The Senior Day victory moves the Colonials to 7-5 on the season and 3-1 in ASUN conference play.

MOMENTS THAT MATTER
It was a back-and-fourth battle throughout the game's entirety. With Air Force getting off to a 3-0 lead in the first, it took until the 13:21 mark of the second quarter for RMU to get on the board at the hands of senior Corson Kealey.

With 1:32 remaining in the third quarter, the Colonials had finally tied up the game with the help of Torin Neal's back-to-back goals. The tie did not last long, however, as Chase Douglas put one past Ben Savick to, once again, regain the lead.

Despite Elliot Holden's equalized, ASUN leading-scorer Brandon Dodd put two more in to hand Air Force a 10-8 lead with 7:38 remaining in regulation.

This served only as motivation for the Colonials. After Taggart Clark scored his first of the game, Jake Boudreau hit AFA goalie with his underhand shot to tie the game at 10 apiece.

With 2:47 remaining in regulation, Caden Wolfson of Air Force was penalized for a cross-check to the face, allowing RMU's leading scorer Clark to score on the man-up opportunity with just over two minutes remaining in the game. Followed up by a huge last-second save by Savick, the Colonials sealed the win.

TWO FOR THE SHOW
Two seemed to a be lucky number for the Colonials today. Five separate RMU players, Jake Boudreau, Corson Kealey, Taggart Clark, Torin Neal, and Ben Starkey, scored two goals in the win. Additionally, Elliot Holden was credited with two points in the form of a goal and an assist.

KEAL-ING IT

Corson Kealey is now riding a 21-game scoring streak, dating back to the beginning of the 2021 season. The graduate student scored two goals, dealt out an assist.

BO KNOWS LAX
Going 14-20 in the circle today, Bo Columbus won 70% of his faceoffs against Air Force. This is the highest faceoff-win percentage for the Mercyhurst transfer since he went 16-20 (80%) against Detroit Mercy to open ASUN action.

POST-GAME QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH CRAIG MCDONALD
ON TODAY'S WIN
"All of the credit goes to the guys and being able to turn it around, get it together and get back on base and back on track. We were able to string a couple of plays together and be able to get to a point that we were back in it."

ABOUT THE SENIOR CLASS
"It's a unique situation. I came in how I did, when I did, and having the seniors be the way they are was great. Sometimes you get a new coach, there is a little push back and it's a little hard, but I haven't felt like that at all. I think these guys have been very good and very open to change. They work really hard and I feel very lucky to be their coach."

UP NEXT
Robert Morris will conclude the 2022 regular season on the road at Cleveland State. Game time is set for noon at the Krenzler Bubble in Cleveland, Ohio on April 30th.
