Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU rowing team continued its 2022 spring season with a pair of competitions over the weekend, hosting West Virginia Saturday from the Midge McPhail Boathouse at the RMU Island Sports Center on Neville Island before traveling to Buffalo, N.Y., to take part in the Black Rock Cup.
WEST VIRGINIA
Against the Mountaineers Saturday morning on Neville Island, the RMU Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 each took part in pieces, with the two programs competing in three-minute, two-minute and one-minute sections.
BLACK ROCK CUP
Each of the RMU Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 boats competed twice at the Black Rock Cup Sunday, competing in both the morning and afternoon. The Varsity 8 notched a time of 7:29.1 in its opening competition before posting a time of 7:19.0 in the afternoon. The Second Varsity 8 finished at 8:24.1 and 8:23.9, respectively, in its two races, while the Varsity 4 posted times of 10:18.3 and 14:14.9.

"Getting to double race with good competition was a great opportunity to prepare us for the MAAC Championships," freshman
Sierra Mackey said. "It's exciting to be in a boat where everyone is so invested in doing well and that we can count on each rower to give good pressure every stroke, regardless of whether it's the first or second time down the course."

RMU welcomes Duquesne to the Midge McPhail Boathouse on Neville Island, Sunday, May 8. The Colonials will honor the the Class of 2022 prior to competition.
