Milwaukee, Wisc. – The Robert Morris University women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season after dropping an 9-1 decision at Milwaukee in Horizon League play on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Colonials fall to 5-1-3 this season, behind a 0-1-1 record in league play. Meanwhile, the Panthers improve to 4-3-1 overall with a 1-1-0 mark in conference action.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
After a slow and physical start for both teams in the opening 10 minutes, Milwaukee got on the board first after converting a penalty kick at the 12:24-mark. In the 31 minute, the Colonials knotted the score at 1-1 when freshman Nicola Mosionek snuck a free kick just inside the right post from 20-yards out. The Panthers extended its lead right before half when Stephanie Recinos was able to beat goalkeeper Isabela Bohlen at the 42:38-mark. Milwaukee exploded in the second half as they recorded seven goals on 23 shots in the final 45 minutes.

ON THE OFFENSIVE
Mosioneks lone goal for the Colonials was the first of her career. The Panthers opened the second half with a pair of goals to extend their lead, 4-1. Senior Gabriella Lecuona and junior Haleigh Finale each recorded shots on goal that were saved by Parker Donahugh. Milwaukee tallied three more goals in a span of nine minutes to stretch their lead, 7-1. The Panthers would tack on two more in the final 11 minutes of the contest.

QUOTABLE
"Very disappointed with the result today, but one loss won't define this team or our season," head coach Chris Shaw said. "We will regroup and get back to work and prepare for our game on Thursday."

QUICK HITS
Mosionek carded her first marker of her career … This is only the second time this season that RMU has been outshot by their opponent … Milwaukee finished with a 34-5 shot advantage including 17-5 edge in shots on goal … The Panthers held a 6-4 lead in corner kicks.

The Colonials return to action on Thursday, September 22, when they travel to Purdue Fort Wayne for a Horizon League contest, starting at 7:00 p.m.
