Moon Township, Pa. – Behind a game-winner from freshman
Elisa Corvalan, the Robert Morris University women's soccer team captured its first Horizon League win with a 2-1 victory over Detroit Mercy on Sunday afternoon at the North Athletic Complex.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Both teams began the game by placing a shot on goal in the opening three minutes before Detroit Mercy took an early 1-0 lead at the 11:20-mark. Taylor Stanley was on the right side of the field and put a cross into the box that found the foot of Julie Piechocki. In the 24th minute, freshman
Paloma Swankler fired back-to-back shots on goal that were saved by goalkeeper Jazmine Scott. After a shot and a corner kick by the Titans, Robert Morris knotted the score at the 35:04-mark as freshman
Renae Mohrbacher carded her first collegiate goal. Off a goal kick by Detroit Mercy, Mohrbacher dribbled down the middle of the field and beat the keeper to right the side of the net, 1-1.
In the second half, the Titans looked to take the lead just five minutes in after Sophia Blankenship placed a shot to the bottom left of the net that was saved by redshirt senior
Isabella Bohlen. The Colonials continued to spray shots at the net, as they recorded two shots and two corner kicks over the next 13 minutes.
GAME WINNER
After two-consecutive corner kicks by Robert Morris, the Colonials peppered the net as a deflection of a shot came right to Corvalan, who beat the keeper to the right to give RMU a 2-1 lead at the 82:54-mark. That was her third goal of the season as she is now tied for the team lead.
