Can You Dig It?

- The RMU volleyball team opens a three-match homestand at the UPMC Events Center Tuesday by welcoming Cleveland State for a 6:00 p.m. first serve. The Colonials will also host Purdue Fort Wayne (9/30) and IUPUI (10/1) as part of their homestand.

- Danny Doherty is in his first full season leading the Colonials after being named head coach Dec. 31, 2021. He served as interim head coach for the final four matches of the 2021 campaign.

- RMU is in search of its first Horizon League victory Tuesday after dropping a pair in the Badger State. The Colonials fell by the score of 3-0 at both Green Bay (9/23) and Milwaukee (9/24). Sophomore Ally Christman paced RMU in its swing through Wisconsin, notching 16 kills and 17 digs.

- Fifth-year Alyssa Hudak finished with 14 kills and a .250 hitting percentage in RMU's matches against Green Bay and Milwaukee. She paced the Colonials against the Panthers with nine kills and a .364 attack percentage.

- The Colonials continue to top the charts in service aces in the Horizon League. RMU owns 102 in 57 sets during the 2022 campaign, an average of 1.79 per set. Ranking second is IUPUI, which has averaged 1.62 aces per set. Ranking second in #HLVB in total service aces is Green Bay with 89.

- Individually, junior outside hitter Annie Monaco ranks fourth in the Horizon League with an average of 0.37 service aces per set. Senior libero Allena Carmody and sophomore setter Ashleigh Wallin are tied for eighth (0.32), as each have produced 18 aces in 57 sets.

- RMU concluded its non-conference campaign with an overall record of 7-5 (.583) after posting a 1-2 mark in Buies Creek, N.C., at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Dunn Campbell Invitational. The Colonials ran their winning streak to six with a 3-0 win over North Carolina Central (9/16) before falling to the host Camels, 3-0. The Citadel (9/17) posted a 3-1 win over RMU in the 2022 non-conference finale.

- Senior Allena Carmody averages 3.91 digs per set, which is good enough to rank seventh in the Horizon League.

- Upon completion of its three-match homestand, the Colonials head out on a four-match road trip that includes visits to Youngstown State (10/7), Wright State (10/13), Northern Kentucky (10/14) and Cleveland State (10/18).

The All-Time Series (Cleveland State) –
The Colonials and Vikings meet for the 25th occasion Tuesday, with Cleveland State owning a 23-1 (.958) advantage in the all-time series. RMU is looking for its first victory over the Vikings since 2004, a 3-2 win at the Charles L. Sewall Center (11/2). In that match former middle blockers Rachel Leitch (2001-04) and Janette Schneider (2003-06) combined for 36 kills and a .446 hitting percentage while also racking up 13 blocks.

Home Cooking – The Colonials will play as many home matches this week (3) as they have through the first 15 matches of the 2022 season. Junior outside hitters Annie Monaco (37) and Abby Ryan (24) have led RMU in kills at the UPMC Events Center, while junior middle Emma Brown has produced a team-high .417 hitting percentage. Defensively, opponents have hit just .179 against the Colonials at the UPMC Events Center, while RMU owns 27 service aces, including seven from Monaco.

Dig Me Out – Senior Allena Carmody is looking to become the second student-athlete for the Colonials to join the RMU 1,000-Dig Club in as many years. Carmody eclipsed 800 career digs at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Dunn Campbell Invitational and owns 871 during her career. Based on a four-set match, Carmody would need to average 2.15 digs per set through the remaining 15 matches of the 2022 regular season to become the 14th RMU student-athlete in program history with 1,000 career digs. Carmody has posted at least 10 digs in 14 of RMU's 15 matches this season, including 13 consecutive entering Tuesday's tilt against Cleveland State.
