Opening Faceoff
- The Robert Morris University men's hockey team is hosting their first home conference series of the season, Friday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. and the following day at 5:00 p.m. against Holy Cross.
- Last time out, the Colonials finished in a 3-3 tie at Mercyhurst. The Lakers picked up the additional point in the standings, winning in the shootout.
- Logan Ganie produced a two-point game, posting one goal and one assist.
- Defenseman Cade Townend launched in his first goal of the year, against his former team on the power play.
- Freshman forward McKay Hayes scored for the second game in a row with another goal on the man-advantage.
- Opening up the season at home, RMU fell to Bowling Green, 0-3. Chad Veltri made 40 saves on the night.
- The following day, the Colonials returned the favor, beating the Falcons, 3-0 at their place. Veltri earned his seventh career shutout in the victory.
- Alternate captain Gavin Gulash recorded a team-high two assists in the win. Dominc Schimizzi scored the program's first official goal of the season, also being his first career goal that day.
- McKay Hayes pounded in his first career goal on the power play. Cameron Hebert and Rylee St. Onge recorded their first points of the season, assisting Hayes on the special team's unit goal.
- Logan Ganie scored his first goal in an RMU uniform, passing the puck into the empty net to seal the deal during last Sunday's game. Cade Townend dished out his first assist for the Colonials on that goal.
- Between the posts, goaltender Chad Veltri was named Goaltender of the Week by the AHA in Week 1 of the season. He made 73 stops in two games against Bowling Green and recorded his first win and shutout of the year in game two of the series.
- Heading into the 2023-24 season, the staff brought in 16 freshmen which is the largest group of first-year players in the NCAA.
- The team also features many veterans, as there are nine graduate players. In total, the roster is set to 29 student-athletes.
- In RMU's most recent season back in 2020-21, the Colonials finished 15-9-0 overall and were 10-5-0 in the Atlantic Hockey Conference. Qualifying for playoffs, RMU faced Niagara in the quarterfinal round, playing a best-of-three series. They won the first game in overtime, 3-2 but then fell to Niagara the next two games.

The All-Time Series vs. Holy Cross – In the program's history, the Colonials have had lots of success against Holy Cross, owning a 20-9-2 record over the opposing program. Most recently, these two teams faced off in RMU's last season in 2020-21, beating Holy Cross in a best-of-three series in the quarterfinal round of the AHA playoffs. RMU dropped the first game, 0-2, but then went on to beat the Crusaders 2-1 in overtime and then 5-1 the next day. RMU beat Holy Cross in their very first matchup, 4-2 back in 2010. Overall, the Colonials have outscored the Crusaders 94-65 in 31 games.

Scouting the Crusaders – Currently, the Crusaders are undefeated, owning a 3-0-0 overall record and are receiving votes to be nationally ranked. Statistically, Jack Ricketts leads all players in goals and points (2-2—4). He also has the team's best +/- with a +4. Defensively, Nic Petruolo leads the team in blocks with 10 through three games. So far, in the young season, 12 different players on Holy Cross have registered a point. In goal, Jason Grande has started and played all minutes in their three games. He has exactly a 1.00 G.A.A. along with a .959 save percentage with one shutout already on the year.
