Boston, Mass. – Sophomore forward
Morgan Giannone and graduate defenseman Chloé Puddifant were awarded with Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, announced by the league office today, Monday afternoon.
Over the weekend, the Colonials returned to action for the 2023-24 season, playing a series at Union.
Against the Garnet Chargers, Giannone started off her tenure at RMU making an immediate impact. In game one of the series, she was involved on the team's two goals, supplying an assist.
For game two, Giannone recorded the game tying goal in Saturday's game, also being the programs first shorthanded tally of the year. A little over three minutes into overtime, Giannone scored again, giving RMU their first win of the season. Through two games, she produced four points.
Across two games, on the blue line, Puddifant registered one goal and one assist in the series. She dished out the primary assist on freshman
Janelle Evans first career goal, also going down as RMU's first goal of the campaign.
Puddifant helped out on the defensive end as well, recording four blocked shots on the weekend.
Up next, RMU will host Saint Anselm on Saturday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. for their home opener.
