Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's soccer team fell to the Golden Grizzlies, 0-1 Saturday afternoon. The Colonials are now 4-5-5 overall and drop to 2-3-2 in Horizon League play. Oakland climbs to 6-7-2 overall and improves to 5-2 in the Horizon League.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
After a three-game road trip, the Colonials returned to the North Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon.
Getting right back to their style of play, the Colonials posted an ample amount of chances in the first half.
Victor Koah and
John Paul Mbuthia each had scoring opportunities within two minutes of each other in the first half which led to some of the best chances for the Colonials on the day.
Sophomore captain
William Dodzi Afawubo led the Colonials on the day with five shots on goal. He had a great chance late in the first half, but a diving stop by the Oakland goalkeeper stalled that opportunity to keep the game scoreless.
In the 64th minute, Afawubo had another shot to take the lead for the Colonials but once again it was Michael Sly Jr. making the save for the Golden Grizzlies.
The Colonials played 83 strong minutes until the Golden Grizzlies managed to break the score open with their lone goal in the 84th minute of play by forward Donavan Phillip.
In conclusion, RMU battled all game but couldn't manage to cash in, falling to Oakland, 0-1.

The Colonials finished the match with 17 total shots with nine of those being on goal. RMU posted most of their shots in the first half when they had 13 total shots in that frame. Freshman goalkeeper
Kieran Gorgenyi pulled in four saves, having two in each half. Nine out of the 11 starters for RMU played all 90 minutes of the match on Saturday afternoon.

RMU's next game will be against Detroit Mercy as the Colonials will travel to Michigan for a 3 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, October 28th. After that, the Colonials will have one more Horizon League game against Cleveland State.
