Green Bay, Wisc. – The RMU volleyball team began its two-game road trip to Wisconsin, dropping a 3-1 decision to Green Bay on Friday night at the Kress Center.
With the loss, the Colonials fall to 6-19 overall, with a 3-11 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Phoenix improve to 10-14 this season behind an 8-4 record in Horizon League play.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
It was a hot start for RMU as they registered 14 kills and hit at a .342 clip to earn a 25-21 victory in the opening frame. Green Bay jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the Colonials mounted a 9-7 surge to knot the score 10-10. Sophomore

Allena Carmody posted an ace. The two squads traded the next eight points before the Phoenix scored five of the next seven points to trim the deficit, 21-19. Powers would end the run with a kill before a successful swing by Eric capped the set for the Colonials.
TOUGH BATTLE
Green Bay would respond in set two, using a .333 hitting percentage to claim a 25-19 victory to even the match, 1-1. It was a battle in the third stanza as there were 15 ties and six lead changes before the Phoenix collected a 27-25 win. The two teams traded the opening 12 points of the set before Green Bay totaled a 6-1 stint to hold a 12-7 advantage. RMU countered with five consecutive points, two of them coming off the hand of Adams to tie the set 12-all. Later in the set, the Phoenix scored five of the next seven points to hold a 23-21 advantage before the Colonials mounted a 4-2 spurt to knot it at 25-all. Esposito and Adams each found the floor successfully during the run. Green Bay would post a kill and an ace to grab a 2-1 match advantage.
Taking advantage of a stagnant RMU attack, the Phoenix produced a .345 attacking percentage, to go along with 12 kills to secure the match, 3-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Adams led the charge with 12 kills and three digs while Esposito fell shy of another double-double. She posted a team-high 14 digs and nine kills, along with two blocks on Friday. Powers and senior
Emma Brown tallied six kills each while Brown collected a pair of blocks.
Ashleigh Wallin registered 17 assists and eight digs while
Katie Cook recorded 13 helpers, seven digs, and tied a season-high with three blocks.
Ally Christman finished with 13 digs and a pair of aces while Carmody totaled 13 digs and a team-high three service aces. Eric finished Friday's match with three blocks, five digs, and four kills.

RMU wraps up its three-game road slate with a trip to Milwaukee on Saturday, Oct. 28, with the opening serve scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
