FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason used an early 13-0 run in the 1
st quarter in its 83-63 victory over RMU on Saturday afternoon.
Natalie Johnson led the Colonials (1-3) with a career-high 14 points.
Alejandra Mastral added 12 and three steals.
Kennedy Harris scored 13 points for the Patriots (5-0).
A layup from
Danielle Vuletich followed by a 3-pointer from Mastral cut Mason's lead one at the midway point of the 1
st quarter. However, that would be the final two field goals for RMU as the Patriots ended the quarter on a 16-2 run to take a 27-12 advantage.
By halftime, Mason extended its advantage to 19 points at 48-29 and would see a lead as large as 29 points – three times, the later coming at 9:38 of the 4
th quarter.
RMU outscored GMU 21-12 in the 4
th quarter.
Up next, RMU returns to the UPMC Events Center to face Penn State Beaver (2-5) November 21. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Lions are on a two-game win streak – including an 88-51 win over PSU Brandywine earlier this afternoon.
