Opening Faceoff
  • Before the holiday break, RMU will play one last series to finish out 2023. The Colonials will host #13 Arizona State University at Clearview Arena on Saturday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 17 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Last time out, RMU earned their first sweep of the campaign, beating Niagara 4-1 at home and 3-1 on the road.
  • In both games, captain Rylee St. Onge produced a multipoint effort. In game one of the series, he sniped in his first goal of the season which would go down as the game-winning goal.
  • Chad Veltri put together two great performances against his former team, totaling 88 saves on 90 shots. His 88 stops are a season-high in a series for all AHA goaltenders this season.
  • For the second time of the campaign, Veltri was named AHA Goaltender of the Week. EverythingCollegeHockey also named Veltri their ECH Goalie of the Week. The Pittsburgh native went 2-0 and recorded a .978 save percentage.
  • Defenseman Mitch Andres played in his 100th career game a week ago at Clearview Arena. Across the weekend he posted eight blocked shots, leading all blue liners in the conference in that category. He owns 39 blocks on the year.
  • In game one of the two-game set against Niagara, freshman Jackson Reineke registered his first career multipoint game, scoring two goals against the Purple Eagles.
  • Forward Gavin Gulash was also a key player in the first victory, recording his second multipoint effort of the campaign. He scored the team's first goal and later added an assist.
  • At Niagara, forward Matthew Boczar and defenseman Gabriel Lunn each scored their first career goal. Lunn's finish on the power play would go down as the game-winning tally.
  • RMU's win at Niagara was the program's 200th conference win all-time. All 200 wins have been led by Head Coach Derek Schooley in his 18th year coaching the program.

The All-Time Series (ASU) – This weekend will be the third and fourth meeting between the two programs. Back in 2020, both teams played in Arizona. The Sun Devil's won both games 3-2 and 5-4. Nick Prkusic and Jake Coleman for the Colonials each registered three points and Luke Lynch posted two across the series.
 
Scouting the Sun Devils – Closing in on the first half of the 2023-24 campaign, ASU is currently ranked #13 nationally and are 11-3-4 to begin the season. They've put together four wins against ranked opponents. Offensively, Lukas Sillinger leads the team in points (5-14—19). His 14 assists are also the most on their squad. Forwards Matthew Kopperud and Tyler Gratton each own a team-high eight goals. Kopperud holds four game-winners this season. In +/-, defenseman Brandon Tabakin leads the roster with a +13. Defensively, Ethan Szmagaj holds 43 blocks. In net, TJ Semptimphelter has played the most minutes for the Sun Devils, starting in 14 games. He currently possesses a 2.45 G.A.A. and .917 save percentage. Out of 14 starts, Semptimphelter has won nine games with three shutouts.
