RMU Enters Break with Win Over Fairmont State, 66-55

Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team went into their break with a win as RMU defeated Fairmont State, 66-55. With a win, RMU improves to 5-6 overall while the Falcons dropped to 9-2 on the season.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The Colonials coming out of halftime struggled to gain momentum on the offensive side of the ball until midway through the third quarter when the RMU offense started to click. With 6:47 remaining in the third and RMU with a narrow 34-33 lead, Danielle Vuletich and Louella Allana gave the team a spark combining for seven points while the Colonials went on an 11-3 run to close out the quarter.

Once again it was the RMU bench that provided consistency for the Colonials as the team had 29 points from their non-starters compared to Fairmont State who had 11 bench points. Rebecca Dwomoh played 25 minutes off the bench and tallied eight points and nine boards while making crucial baskets down the stretch.

CONTROLLING THE GLASS
RMU had the height advantage in their last non-conference matchup and it showed as the Colonials outrebounded Fairmont State 43-24 while notching 16 second-chance points. Vuletich led the team with 10 rebounds while Paris Kirk tallied seven boards off the bench in 14 minutes played. This was the third time this season that the team had 40 plus rebounds with the other two occasions being against Penn State Beaver and Cleveland State.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Vuletich registered a double-double in back to back games as she finished with 12 points and 10 boards to lead the team. Natalie Johnson once again scored double figures off the bench as she had 11 points in just 10 minutes played. Simone Morris had her team-leading eighth game scoring in double digits as she had 11 points while chipping in two rebounds and a steal.
