LORETTO, Pa. –
Justice Williams' 3-pointer with 2.0 seconds led an 18-point come from behind win in RMU's 75-73 victory at Saint Francis U.
Williams finished with a game-high 20 points.
Markeese Hastings scored 19 points and
Josh Corbin added 13 for the Colonials (4-8).
Cam Gregory paced the Red Flash (4-7) with 16 points.
The two teams battled close in the first five minutes with four ties before a 9-1 Red Flash run made the score 25-17 at the 7:51 mark. An Eli Wilborn layup at 4:35 gave SFU its first 10-point advantage at 33-23. The lead would reach 15 on a Carlo Lopez layup with 1:58 on the clock, making the score 40-25. The Colonials scored the next five points to send the game into halftime down 40-30.
After being down by as many as 18 points in the 2
nd half, RMU went on a 18-5 run, capped by
Stephaun Walker's 3-pointer, to cut the deficit to five at 65-60 with 3:19 remaining. The Colonials got within four points at 2:03 when a pair of Corbin free throws made the score 68-64.
With 1:04 remaining, Corbin scored the next eight points, a pair of 3-pointers sandwiched between two foul shots, in 30 seconds to give RMU a 72-69 lead with 46.1 seconds left. Gregory's back-to-back layups gave SFU the lead at 73-72 with 15.9 seconds left. On the ensuing possession, Williams brought the ball up the court, passed to
Jackson Last, who dished the ball back to Williams for the game-winner from the left corner.
RMU resumes Horizon League December 29 at Milwaukee and December 31 at Green Bay. The next home game is January 4 against IUPUI.
